Last Minute Shopping for Chinese New Year

I always do last minute shopping for Chinese New Year, because I'll always start to on diet weeks before CNY. I just don't want my relatives to greet me with "Wow you've grown up again!" instead of "Gong Hei Fatt Choi!". Oh please, I'm 23. How big can I grow? I always swear that I won't be buying any clothes if I don't cut a few pounds, just to motivate myself. But of course, I failed every single year, and would still end up buying few pieces of new clothes. If your reason is different than mine, then what's your reason for last minute shopping? Whatever reason it is, in no particular order, below is the special CNY compilation for local (Malaysia) fashion retailers and/or online stores that have pieces specially designed or sourced for CNY and of course, some stores that have cool clothes without flowers and red colour that can wow your relatives and friends.


ONE. TGND.

This vintage store in Johor Bharu is managed by a bunch of cool fashionistas that sells clothes that are hardly to be found elsewhere. The founder of TGND, Beverly Ang (the third person of the photo below) is probably the coolest fashionista in town because every single photo she took just shows her unique charisma that you feel the 'chicness' just shines from the inside out. She lives by the mantra 'Own Your Style or Stay Naked' that just spreads throughout TGND and her own fashion label, Bev C with another partner-- Cally Chin who also has great style! Luckily, she does not have to stay naked, because she totally slays us with every single outfit she wore. Both TGND and Bev C just don't want you to follow the trends blindly, just because style will stay, and fashion will fade.

TWO. Twenty3.

Twenty3 has been a leader in terms of being innovative on its apparels' designs by manufacturing clothes that you can wear in different styles. This is something that you should get if you want to make your friends and relatives start thinking if they actually have hallucinations on what they thought they see on you minutes ago that just happens not to be there again. For example, you can hide your sleeves or your collar like the two beautiful dresses they have below.

Or take away your dress (the last photo below).

Or... take away the organza top when you're feeling sexy (the last two photos below).

THREE. FancyFashionHouse.

This retailer has so many CNY clothes and I couldn't handle them. They're selling on the FB and is launching a physical store soon in the MidValley. I like the rose top (the 4th photo below) the most because I can imagine pairing it with a pair of oversized jeans, vintage round sunglasses, Dr. Martens Mary Jane, and a Dolce & Gabanna SS16 camera bag.

FOUR. BlaqMagikLvrs.

This retailer does have few RED clothes specially for CNY but they also have other pretty cool clothes that could grab people's attention when you pay a visit to your relatives' houses. Imagine yourself stepping in the house in the cape playsuit (the 2nd photo) below, it's like telling people 'I'm the Queen'! Wearing black lace dress during CNY? Why not?!



FIVE. DoubleWoot.

DoubleWoot provides elegant dresses for people who want to look appropriate and classy during the CNY. They have been manufacturing the clothes on their own and are targeting working women who aim to look confident and capable at work with their body-fitted designs. These are pieces that you still can wear to work after CNY, or even after work to the pub during the weekends.

SIX. FeliceFabric.

FeliceFabric has so many red dresses to prepare you for the CNY with different type of laces, fabrics and shades of red at an affordable price. Their dresses are competitively priced at not more than MYR108 with designs that look elegant and chic, just because they want you to get a dress that you will want to pay happily as the word 'Felice' is originated from the Latin word that means 'happy'.

SEVEN. Thavia.

Thavia's pieces are exceptionally high fashion with a sense of individuality that could quickly differentiate yourself from the crowd because their designs are inspired by the looks from the runway. They aim to dress modern women who often wear more than one hat at the same time by wanting to remind them not to forget to love themselves (yes we have to love ourselves so we can shine, always!). There are actually more designs I'd like to share here but unfortunately most of them are already out-of-stock. Luckily there are still some other designs and this unique Selene White/Blue Top are still there for you to grab.

EIGHT. KeiMag.

It does seem like KeiMag loves providing dresses to people who just can't get enough of dresses to wear to every single occasion. The types of dresses and skirts they deliver to you are tremendous and you might have a hard time choosing which dress is your most favourite.

NINE. SaturdayClub.

If you wonder, I do think SaturdayClub offers minimalist and contemporary clothings for young working ladies with a little something special on each design. If you've a lust for the beautiful floral prints by the textile and fashion designer-- Celia Birtwell for Valentino's pre-fall 2015 collection, you might want to get that little black dress (the last photo below). They seem to be paying a lot of attention on the details-- a button, a belt, a ribbon, pleats or even a knot that could make a statement and reflect your low profile personality.

TEN. Love, Bonito.

I know! This is not a Malaysia-based retailer, it's from Singapore, but it also has a store at Mid Valley, isn't that great? The reason I need to include this Singapore-based retailer is because they have really great jacquard dresses that are just perfect for CNY (the first and last photo below), as well as some other eye-catching pieces that are hard to be found elsewhere, because they are manufacturing the clothes themselves. Why jacquard is on-trend? Look at Gucci's SS16 collection! And you want to wear jacquard before anyone else? Love, Bonito has it. It's great to see a fashion retailer like LB is putting in the elements of latest fashion trends in their very own way without 'copying' high fashion designs and is something that suits our weather and fashion taste! I'm quite sure you won't want to wear Gucci's jacquard suit or anything inspired under the hot sun.
