If you closely watched the fashion industry, you'd have known that there are quite a handful of designers from Raf Simons to Hedi Slimane recently who have departed from the houses that they've stayed for so long.
Why?
Could it be something that is wrong with the fashion system? You might find this a good read: Raf Simons on how the relentless pace of fashion is killing creativity and the joy of his fabric design sideline. If you follow Campazine closely and long enough, you probably notice that I've mentioned about the negative impacts of fast fashion on the fashion industry itself, the environment and the people involved in the making of our clothes for a thousand times. It's not that I don't buy any clothes from the fast fashion retailers, but I often make sure it's threadbare before I dispose it or I would donate them out if I couldn't fit in anymore. I also find the 'sameness' in all the stores have totally bored me out and I have lesser and lesser clothes that I want to actually buy. I remember I read somewhere that when things are getting more and more similar, people tend to ignore. If you always dress to impress, you certainly do not want to get ignored, but this is certainly what fast fashion has caused to us. I just hope someone would save the fashion game, could it be Alessandro Michele from Gucci? *giggle
To end this letter with an interesting news, following the departure of Hedi Slimane, Yves Saint Laurent has deleted ALL the photos that are under the era of Hedi Slimane on its Instagram, left with one photo-- a black and white portrait of YSL's new designer, Anthony Vaccarello. Read more here. No matter what reason it is, it appears to be a disrespect act to Hedi Slimane, except if Hedi Slimane actually requested it himself. Why would he even want to do this, though?
On a side note, you could view all the fall collections you need to know from New York Fashion Week here. Now working on the London Fashion Week. Hope you enjoy. As always, Happy Inspirations Hunting!
