Here comes again the weekly fashion dose! This week is all about the falling revenues of many traditional retailers including GAP and Macy's, as well as... old topic-- fake goods.
If you've read the Fashion Dose #3 last week, you'd have known that Gucci had sent warning letters to 6 shop owners who sell Gucci paper lookalike bags for those who want to burn for their beloved ones to use in the afterworld. This week, Gucci has apologised for this misunderstanding after being backfired on the social media. Some said Gucci should actually burn this letter to the people in the afterworld too! *LOL

We have not yet done with Gucci. In order to enforce intellectual property rights and to combat counterfeit goods, many luxury retailers including Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and Apple have joined the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) which aims to render the theft of intellectual property undesirable and unprofitable. However, the addition of Alibaba Group into this force family has raised serious question about what has actually Alibaba Group done to combat this act when many goods that it's sold through its platform are actually imitations since it is actually the biggest market for fake goods in the world? This new-joined member has apparently caused Gucci to be disappointed and thus quit the IACC.

Few days later, IACC announced that it has suspended Alibaba's membership due to 'conflict of interest' between Alibaba and IACC's president-- Robert Barchiesi who apparently had stocks in Alibaba. IACC admits that this happened due to the weak corporate governance procedures it has that is clearly not because of Robert's fault. I personally think that the addition of Alibaba into IACC will not help much in its image unless it really tries very hard to stop selling and profiting from the sale of fake goods on its site. It's not that I hate Alibaba, I just... hate people copy and use other people's ideas. I understand it's totally not easy to develop an idea, thus to steal people's idea and sell it at a much cheaper price just seems unacceptable to me.

On 9th of May, the American luxury womenswear designer Christian Siriano has presented a fashion show for the plus-size retailer Lane Bryant. The reason I think I need to talk a bit about this is because Siriano has set a perfect example for other designers to follow. His fashion show was actually a celebration of different curves and has also changed people's stereotypical idea of how plus-size women should wear (i.e. cannot wear white). It's also a movement that hopes to have other designers to change their 'traditional' thoughts and design for women with fuller figures.

Siriano must have been giggling non-stop since the launching of his designs, because they are sold out within two weeks... At only 30-year-old, this young designer is not afraid to try anything to see what works and what doesn't in order to survive in this fast-changing fashion industry which many traditional retailers have been struggling to. This successful collaboration does not come by mere luck, instead it is actually because of his ability to fulfil the needs of this big plus-size market that many have neglected, which the InStyle.com has perfectly summed them up into 3 main points:
1. One silhouette does not flatter all, because everyone is different;
2. Plus-size is not equal to low quality fabrics; and
3. Plus-size can wear any bold and bright colour other than black.
It's great to see a movement like that. After all, every body deserves a piece of good quality and perfectly designed garment.
Lastly, what is the photo you'll see recently when you're on social media?
Yes, best-dressed celebrities from the Cannes Red Carpet.

I'm pretty sure you've seen how gorgeous Blake Lively is in that Vivienne Westwood gown that looks just like a real life Cinderella! This pregnant mama isn't afraid to show what she's got in different outfits that have caught many people's eyes.
Below are my favourite list:

Who is your best dressed? If you notice the number of times Blake Lively appears above, you've got my answer. My second choice would be Anna Kendrick. I just love how the mustard yellow dress fits perfectly on her. Third would be Victoria Beckham, she's another woman who has dressed in a formal black jumpsuit with flair besides than Cara Delevingne as shown below:

I wish I could find this type of jumpsuit when I attended the first prom of my life in the university. Well, obviously the luck wasn't at my side :/

Although it's a serious event at the Cannes, there's something interesting that happened-- Julia Robert went barefoot at the red carpet, which might be an act to protest against the organiser's policy for making all women to wear heels a compulsory and the unequal wardrobe guidelines that this kind of event always has when men tend to be allowed to enter even if he wears a pair of jeans or sneakers but women are often rejected when she wears a pair of flats. There're a group of women in their 50s got rejected at the entrance last year because they were wearing flats with rhinestones. I think both heels and flats should be allowed, as long as they look proper and appropriate for the event. After all, why men are allowed to wear sneakers when women are not allowed to wear flats? Julia Robert looked so happy (ahh breaking the rules is always a joyful thing)! Of course, do you know heels can kill people? I got killed every single time! I understand that feel after you take off that fucking pair of heels, bro.
That's it for this week's fashion dose! Happy Monday tomorrow! :)
